In 1929, Radio Corporation of America (RCA) purchased the Victor Talking Machine Company, then the world's largest manufacturer of phonographs (including the famous "Victrola") and phonograph records (in British English, "gramophone records"). The company then became RCA-Victor. With Victor, RCA acquired New World rights to the famous Nipper trademark. 
In Britain in 1931, RCA's British branch, the Gramophone Company (HMV), merged with Parlophone and Columbia to form Electrical and Musical Industries (EMI).  RCA sold its shares in the new company in 1935, but its products continued to appear on the HMV label in the UK until 1957, when RCA launched its own label.

In 1974, when RCA series is still running, two new series start: APBO 0000 and LPBO 0000. Both series ends the same year. In 1976 the RCA series ends, and three PB series takes over, all running into the 1980s.
