Bell Records wasl founded in 1952 by Arthur Shimkin in New York. In 1960, Amy Records was formed as a subsidiary label. In 1961, Larry Uttal purchased Bell, Amy and Mala labels, and folded his Madison Records. 
Early on, Uttal concentrated on the Amy and Mala labels, and rendered Bell dormant. 
The company was acquired by Columbia Pictures in 1969. Amy and Mala folded.
