| Bearsville Records was founded in 1970 by Bob Dylan's manager, Albert Grossman. Initially distributed by Ampex Records. In it's initial artist roster was Jerhico, and Todd Rundgren (alias Runt). The first album (Runt) and single were initially released on the parent Ampex label and eventualy released on the new Bearsville graphics. As The Ampex label was running out of steam, Bearsville moved to Warner Brothers Distribution (Big Tree moved to Bell Records), and the artist roster gained Foghat, Randy Vanwarmer and the maiden voyages of Sparks. Bearsville continued until 1984 when the label was shut down. It's back catologue is currently distributed by Rhino Records. | |||
