The Beach Boys re-negotiated their contract with Capitol in early 1967. In doing so they formed a new label, Brother Records, as an outlet for the band and pet side-projects. The original label lasted for one LP (Smiley Smile) and two singles ("Heroes and Villains" and "Gettin' Hungry"). The Beach Boys were re-absorbed back into the parent label Capitol in October 1967.
In 1970, when the Beach Boys contract with Capitol expired, the band signed on with Warner-Reprise.
The singles from 1970 to 75 were almost always released on two label variations, either with a full Reprise label with a Brother logo added, or a full Brother-Reprise label.
