| Philles
Records was a foundes in 1961 by Phil
Spector and Lester
Sill.
In 1962, Spector purchased Sill's stock to become sole owner, and America's youngest label chief (21). A subsidiary, Phi-Dan Records, was started in 1964. When his production of "River Deep - Mountain High" by Ike and Tina Turner failed to chart higher than # 88 in 1967, Spector lost interest in Philles and shortly after the label folded. |
