RCA BIRTHDAY
US Labels and Company Sleeves 1961

Labels

This seven-inch vinyl disc was recorded in November of 1960, pressed for Ardee Records and distributed through RCA Victor Records. The story focuses around the Stooges performing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" and "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" at a birthday party, whereupon they sing "Happy Birthday" to a lucky youngster.
Each record was personalized with a different childs name. In fact, 238 individual children could have happy birthday sung to them by the Three Stooges. Their manager, Norman Maurer, advised them against the idea since dealers could not stock all 238 names and thus sales could be poor. Despite this advice, the Stooges went ahead with the deal because of their friendship with Harry Harris, the record's producer. Upon its initial release, RCA Records reported the disc was selling poorly just as Maurer had anticipated.
